Your word in Philippians 4:6-7 reminds us not to be anxious but to bring our concerns to you in prayer. You would not believe how loud it gets around here when we’re all clamoring for attention. Sometimes we talk over one another, we’re so excited!Father, thank you for my family. You have blessed me so much, entrusting me to care for my children. Help me to be the father you have called me to be. Give me the strength to teach my daughter how to be the woman you have called her to be. Give me the courage to say the things she needs to hear, even if they are not the things she wants to hear. (by Brett Rinehart) Prayer for a Struggling Daughter This morning you were the first thing I thought of. You always are. I can’t believe I gave life to such a beautiful little girl. I can’t believe it was you who I carried for so long. I loved being pregnant with you, I often wished I could keep you there forever and never have to worry about saying goodbye. A daughter. My daughter. I can’t believe I was blessed with a daughter and then had to say goodbye. Help her find comfort in your presence and rest in the assurance of your love. May her heart be free from fear and turmoil, and her mind be filled with the peace that only you can provide.

I searched for many things to fill myself up. Many were bad things, but some were good. I had good friends who helped and distracted me. I had the rest of my family too who gave me love. I had pets and cats to console me and give me company. Pets you had loved too. The cats looked for you, I saw them searching, but they could never find you. I understood their sadness and confusion.I pray that your angels watch over her day and night, guiding her steps and preserving her well-being. May she always feel your presence, love, and protection. I used to remind myself that the day would come when I would find myself missing you — the little girl who would sing around the house or write plays for others to perform; the girl who was at times so hungry but unable to decide what she was hungry for; the girl who adores her baby sister. On 27 July 2017, my grandmother passed away. She was suffering from kidney malfunctioning, nausea, trouble sleeping, weakness, muscle cramps (especially in the legs), and what-not because of her age. Yet that’s how we feel. We rest peacefully in the knowledge that you’ll join us someday and that is where our solace resides. Writing your own letters to heaven, or anywhere you believe the afterlife to be, can be your source of strength and liberation during these trying times. I want you to know that it is never too late to grieve, and that in some way, your voice will be heard by that special person you miss so much.

We know days don’t come easy for you and so we chose to band together and compose a love letter in your honor. The well-loved picture frame sits on the shelf in your grandkids’ room; just high enough to be out of reach from curious toddler hands, but low enough for me to pull it down each time they ask about you. That photo of you— it has always been my favorite. You look so happy, so healthy, so whole . . . just the way that I want these sweet grandbabies of yours—the ones you never got to meet—to know you. Because although you may be in Heaven, they will know you. It’s not uncommon for a mother to feel that her chief responsibility is to be a strong role model for her daughter. Most of us would agree that the worst form of loss is the death of a loved one. Try as we may, there is no answer to the one question that continues to hassle both our hearts and minds: Why? Dear Jesus, we weep with you over the number of our kids who are buying into the lie that sexual pleasure is something to experiment with. We pray that our daughters would treasure their sexuality as a true gift from You, and that they would honor that gift by saving it as a precious treasure to give their future spouse. We ask that you would help them to be strong in the face of their own desires and that they would choose purity in the face of temptation. I would love for you to visit me. Even though I am aware that you are no longer here, remembering all the wonderful times we had together enhances my day. I'm hoping you're in a happier place without any sorrow or suffering. I miss you and I love you. I'm learning to deal with my loss day by day while attempting to be strong for my dad. When I go to bed at night, my thoughts are constantly on you because I love you more and more each day.
