Earlier this year you described the new Slipknot album, The End, So Far, as “darker” than previous album We Are Not Your Kind. The latter was obviously born from a very toxic and dark place on a personal level, so in what way is the inspiration behind the new one darker? blahblahstrife

I don’t feel guilty about anything I listen to. Why would you feel guilty about something you enjoy? Unless it’s illegal and gross [laughs]. Side projects of frontman Corey Taylor With the 2008 album ALL HOPE IS GONE is way softer, the follower turns it all to the limit. It was released 6 years later, because the band had to cope with the loss of Slipknot member & bassist Paul Gray. He died in May 2010 from an overdose. In addition, the all-round talent is quite successful as a solo artist. No wonder Corey Taylor has done a lot of guest appearances for other bands as well! On a break, probably [laughs]. Probably working on a new album. I know we’ve got ideas for the next one. I won’t give too much away, but it’s very complex and intricate. I’ll probably have done my solo thing again. I’ve got CMFT2 written; I’m going in to the studio in January and February to record that. I’m trying to be pragmatic but the best way to make God laugh is to announce your plans out loud. The album shows SlipKnot from a harder side again. But also catchy songs like "Psychosocial" made it onto the album. SlipKnot just can't write a disappointing album - top work! Slipknot’s masks are the band’s signature, switching up with each album cycle and ranging from the disturbing to the tongue-in-cheek humorous. The idea for the masks came from the first Slipknot rehearsal when percussionist Shawn Crahan showed up wearing a clown mask. Everyone liked the idea and it prompted the band to focus on the music and the message. You’ll also find the Slipknot nonagram featured throughout our online Slipknot store. This image - three equilateral triangles each rotated at 0, 40, and 80 degrees – was created by the band's members around the same time the band was founded and represents a 9-point star—a symbol of unity, loyalty, friendship and remembrance. Each star point was meant to stand for each of the nine members of the original band. Though it has prompted some controversy in the past, the Slipknot icon is not a Satanist symbol.
