Erik and Ellie had only had a handful of interactions and boned once when, all of a sudden, he was in love with her 🙄. I wanted to read "Alpha Inmate" though because I love stories where one of the main characters is a convict or an ex-convict. I feel like this book could have benefited from a longer build up, it would have made more sense for what happens towards the end.

I remember adding this book to my tbr from a tiktok that I had seen but when I first began reading it this morning, I had no recollection of what made me add it to my tbr and I decided not to read what it was about, and just go straight into it. Alpha Inmate is a dark love story with a twisted Alpha and a stubborn Omega too smart for her own good.I had very low expectations going in but the level of incompetence and stupidity exhibited by literally every single person in this book is astonishing. This is the first book I've read by Liliana Carlisle and I can definitely say I loved every second of it. After three years on the run, I’m back in a Resistance camp, chained to a chair as the resident monster. On this day, I vow to make your rage my own, to weather the storm of your revenge, and keep you forever safe.

Eh, the plot was a whole damn mess, but obviously no one's reading this book for the plot so whatever. In addition, while the prose flowed and contained great detailed descriptions (the prologue was particularly visceral), the number of unclear pronoun references meant that I had to read some sections twice. It features fated mates (rejected mate, knotting), a dirty-talking and alpha shifter hero, and a badass heroine who brings him to his knees. My family is certain I’ll settle with a boring, law-abiding pack before I graduate from Omega University, but I have other plans.

Never fear, though: there's plenty of sex and the usual Omegaverse tropes (slick, heat) are present.
