About this deal

Love this adorable cowboy and desert themed Gingerbread Man book. The Gingerbread Cowboy is so engaging and has amazing vocabulary! It’s such a fun one and your kids will probably ask you to read it again and again. The Gingerbread Boy is a cute story about a New York couple that don’t have children yet so they bake a gingerbread boy who escapes and runs through the city. Really fun illustrations!

For comparison, I’d pair Rodriguez’s traditional version with one of these two non-traditional titles: Keep Running Gingerbread Man by Steve Smallman The litary of this book was a fun pattern to get and keep interest in young children who are listening or reading on their own.The words were really simple, and huge letters easy for the children see or even learn to spell.Try this fun idea of some Gingerbread Hokey Pokey using a classic game with a gingerbread theme to work on body awareness and motor planning. Gingerbread Man Fine Motor Stories also offer children an emotional way-in to subjects. Stories are about characters. Considering events from someone else's point of view can be a great way to help children develop a real sense of empathy. Discuss as a class how characters might be feeling at various points in the story. Traditional tales can be a fabulous tool for teaching. Many children will already be familiar with part of the stories and will enjoy chiming in with the repeated refrains or punchlines. They may also be able to help other children grasp the main points. Oh, and there’s one more little set of books I want to share with you. I have a printable, differentiated set of Gingerbread Man Emergent Readers in my store.

The gingerbread man came up close, and leaning towards the fox, screamed out "I’VE OUTRUN AN OLD MAN, AN OLD WOMAN, A LITTLE BOY, TWO WELL DIGGERS, TWO DITCH DIGGERS, A BEAR AND A WOLF, AND I CAN OUTRUN YOU TOO-O-O!" Once upon a time there was an old man, an old woman, and a little boy. One morning the old woman made some gingerbread in the shape of a man. She added icing for his hair and clothes, and little blobs of dough for his nose and eyes. When she put him in the oven to bake, she said to the little boy, "You watch the gingerbread man while your grandfather and I go out to work in the garden."

Do you have visions of colorfully decorated gingerbread houses or some icing covered gingerbread men? Crafts are the supreme skill builder for kiddos and highly motivating. How about a Gingerbread Man I-Spy activity that is perfect for visual scanning and discrimination? It’s a simple print and go for therapeutic fun! Since that one was such a hit, The Gingerbread Man Loose at Christmas is obviously a favorite too! I love the message of showing appreciation for the people in the community and spreading holiday cheer. Adorable! The title cookie then bests a bear, snake, and mouse with his superior ninja skills. We are left wondering whether the fox eats him or not – all that is left is a covering of powdered sugar, so I think he does. Gingerbread Man Books for Elementary The story starts with a British undertone and with characters who look as if they're from old Britain. The illustrations are detailed, but sometimes unrealistic. The cow, pig, and fox were standing and had human characteristics and body language which was the weirdest part of the book. The story line, however, was very well written in that the language was fun to read and the rhyming made the story easy to tell if one had to read it out loud.

The boy could not believe his eyes, but he soon yelled out, “Help! The Gingerbread Man is getting away!” One more interesting choice is The Runaway Tortilla by Eric Kimmel. Set in south Texas, the main character is a freshly baked “light as a cloud” tortilla, rather than a gingerbread cookie. And that was the storynory of the gingerbread man. I think that the ending is rather sad, but Bertie doesn’t agree. He says that gingerbread is extremely tasty, and he doesn't blame that fox at all for wanting to eat it. I suppose he has a point, but then again, it’s not just any old piece of gingerbread that can run. I don’t have all of these ones below but I thought I’d include them for those of you who do an entire gingerbread theme in your classroom or have your own kids that can’t get enough gingerbread man stories. 🙂 You can also use traditional tales to energise and lighten-up drier subjects. For example, if there are 10 metres between each animal on the lane, and the gingerbread man meets eight animals, how far does he run? More about The Gingerbread Man The Gingerbread Man Story is a classic children's story about a runaway gingerbread man fleeing from the woman who baked him. The story is best known for the gingerbread man's catchphrase "Run, run, as fast you can! You can't catch me I'm the gingerbread man!"
